Our Soldiers in the Middle East are weary, but so are the Christian Soldiers back home in America. We all could use a lift right about now. The words below are written toward that end.
Had there never been a Great Awakening in the new world (1740 - 1760), there would have never been a Revolutionary War (1760 - 1790). Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield may have led the nation's first spiritual movement, but that movement had to take tangible shape if it was to ever do more than touch the individual hearts of the Colonists. Samuel Adams is more than just a popular brand of Beer. Samuel Adams was known as "The Father of the Revolution". He was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was the 4th Governor of Massachusetts just after John Hancock, and cousin to President John Adams. He is largely responsible for taking the momentum of the Great Awakening, and channeling it into the Revolution. He knew what needed to be done, and he understood that action must be taken at any cost. History has proven that his assertions were indeed correct. Samuel Adams had a burning desire to see Freedom established. Born in Boston, his desire for his birthplace was "that Boston might become a Christian Sparta". America has been running on powerful words like these for almost 250 years now. Christians, likewise are prodded forward by the words of Paul to Timothy, exhorting him to: "War a good warfare", and "Please the One who has enlisted you as a soldier (Jesus Christ)". The hymn writer penned: "Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before..." Yes, we all must press Onward.
2007 has been a hard fought year in Oklahoma. Significant battles have been won. The toughest State laws against illegal immigration were passed here. Oklahoma tax dollars stopped paying for abortions, as of November 1st. 35 Oklahoma Legislators refused to receive a free copy of the Koran from a politically powerful Islamic group. An oppressive River Tax was defeated in Tulsa by grassroots citizens, mostly Believers. Oklahoma was awakened to the globalist dangers of the NAFTA SuperCorridor headed for our State, by a National event held in Tulsa. Psalm 98:14 says that "Judgment and Justice are the Habitation of God's Throne..." Oklahomans have seen judgment and justice begin to return to our State. That means His Kingdom is being established and His presence is welcome here. While we are on this earth, we must continue the fight. One day Christ will return and put down all evil - once and for all. In the next life, under the direct rule of one King Jesus - there will be no tears, no pain, and no injustice. But until then - we pray and strive to see Life here on earth become as much like it is in heaven as possible. So, we continue to fight. We earnestly contend for the faith - even when we are battle-weary. Our lives will count for something greater than we could ever know. We will always battle spiritual and natural enemies alike - with a can-do attitude, and a willing spirit. We will break free from the lukewarm American church and its false gospel. We will follow the Lamb whithersoever He goes. And in our commitment to Christ, may those with mere feigned commitment be exposed. Samuel Adams could not abide a quitter or a coward. Those are UnGodly character traits, and we will not embrace them. Jesus was neither a quitter nor a coward. Far from it. Adams words were meant for the ears of those Colonists who needed encouragement to risk it all and do the right thing. He never knew that we would still be inspired by his words today... but we certainly are: “If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” - Sam Adams

The Heartland Strategy Website recently underwent a management change, and we appreciate your Patience. One of our New Year's Resolutions for '08 is to keep this site CURRENT with Christian conservative commentary on newsworthy events, and give "Present Truth" from the Scriptures. Heaven knows there is plenty of fresh manna available from the Lord! No need to neglect a regular updating of this site. What is "Present Truth"? It literally means: Truth that is "at hand"; truth that is "timely". In modern lingo, one might say it is truth which is "in your face" due to whatever situation you might be facing at the moment. Peter wrote: "For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth." (2 Pet 1:11,12) Which truths will be "at hand" in '08? Here's a couple of offerings to begin the new year:In 2008 we will be inundated with a flood of media coverage regarding the Presidential race. I'm already tired of it - and the Primaries haven't even taken place as yet. Here's a tip: As Christian Americans, we need to put God's Word into our hearts. We need to balance the media info-glut by going deeper into the Word in '08. Read your Bible as much as possible. Feed your spirit, or your soul may be overwhelmed by the tsunami of political talk. The only way to accurately process the daily news, is to filter it through the fresh Words God is speaking to you each day. Many have been awakened to reality, but '08 will be a time when some will be lulled back asleep. 2008 is a fulcrum, a pivotal year for the next season in America. The MOST IMPORTANT thing about this presidential election is this: National elections reveal the Will of the People. God gave mankind free will, and He responds to what we say we want. I pray that in November, voting Americans will say: "We want God back in America"... Unfortunately, I remain skeptical that they really do. I hear the Lord saying that we should use 2008 and 2009 to prepare for difficult American changes in 2010 - 2012. I am encouraging my loved ones to get out of financial debt, have at least one dependable vehicle that is paid off, and don't put off doing the practical things that will make your family secure in hard economic times. In Oklahoma, we just endured the worst Ice storm in state history. Hundreds of thousands of homes were without electricity for over a week. Temperatures were in the 20s. People needed heat, lights, and basic survival items. They had no cash, and the ATMs didn't work. Gas pumps were off-line. Grocery stores were closed. It seemed like a dress rehearsal for difficult times in the future. Smart people won't be caught unprepared again. The Border Issue will step up to the next level, revealing what is truly behind our governments' refusal to close or even protect our southern border. The North American Union agenda will come into the mainstream. The battle for America - as we have known it - will begin in earnest. Scandals in the Charismatic Televangelist / Mega Church world will continue and intensify. Well known religious figures will come under the public microscope, and ugly details will emerge. Divisions in the Evangelical world will continue. The false gospel being preached by the Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, and Joel Osteen types will take a more defined shape. It will be clearly seen by some, yet many will continue to follow. The split in Mainline Christian denominations over homosexuals in leadership will intesify as they continue to drift away from the authority of Scripture. The migration of hundreds of thousands of American Believers - OUT of the traditional church setting - and toward unconventional expressions of their faith will accelerate. God is bringing them out of religion so He can restore His Church. Some will fall through the cracks, it's true. But many will move forward in their walk with Christ. Pick up your brother if he falls, but as far as the overall picture: just roll with it. God is up to something BIG. I am pleased to announce that in addition to the Sunday morning Heartland show on KFAQ, I will begin a NEW 3 hour show on Saturday afternoons - 3 to 6pm. LIVE local talk. I thank God for the platform He has given me to speak the truth, and I look forward to this Increase! Please help me spread the word, so the audience can find the new show. - BD

I highly recommend reading this NY Times article. (click here)
It confirms the terrible, disjointed state of the American Church. It chronicles the Evangelical churches, not so much the Charismatic. (The Mega-Charismatic problems are getting of plenty of negative publicity on their Own these days.) It uses the sweeping church-changes in the Heartland city of Wichita, KS as an example of the whole. It shows the trend of young evangelical associate pastors rebelling against Biblical orthodoxy and undermining faithful churches by starting newer confused gatherings. It details the rise, and now the fall of conservatism in American Christianity – and how that effects the Presidential race. It gives helpful info for the looming election year. It gives some detail to what your spiritual gut was already telling you. In recent years, Some of us have felt like we’re “On the outside looking in” regarding American Christianity… Well, guess what? I think it’s abundantly confirmed to me now, that that’s a GOOD THING, not a Bad thing! God has us “outsiders” poised to do His will, in His timing – and that day is soon to come. - BD |
